I believe teaching is an opportunity to inspire and empower. We inspire our students to constantly grow intellectually and empower them to take responsibility for their learning which hopefully inspires them to act. The teacher-student relationship should display elements of partnership, individuals working together to accomplish something, perhaps even with both parties learning. I want my students to understand that I have a genuine and vested interest in their learning, care about them as individuals with their own unique abilities, shortcomings, and goals. This type of relationship allows me to show a desire and enthusiasm for knowledge of the subject matter and the student.
